DropAsecret gives you a link that people use to send you anonymous messages. You can reply, they can reply back, and nobody's name shows unless you both agree. Setting it up takes about a minute. Here's how.

1. Create your free account

Go to dropasecret.com and tap Create your link. You sign up with an email address and a password. The password needs at least 8 characters, and very common passwords aren't accepted. A few words together makes one that's long and easy to remember.

DropAsecret is for people 18 and over.

2. Make your link

Next, you choose:

  • A username. It's the end of your link, so dropasecret.com/yourname. Usernames are 3 to 20 characters long and use lowercase letters, numbers and underscores.
  • A display name. This is the name people see on your page, up to 40 characters.
  • A theme. Midnight, Ocean, Aurora, Sunset, Blossom or Galaxy. Picking a theme also picks an accent colour that suits it, and you can change the colour.

Each account has one link. When it's ready, you'll see "Your link is ready!"

3. Choose what you're asking

Your link can ask different questions. Each one is a mode, with its own prompt:

  • Tell me anything
  • Confessions: "Confess something to me"
  • Secret crush: "Got a crush on me? Say it"
  • Ask me anything
  • Honest opinion: "What do you honestly think of me?"
  • Roast me
  • Advice box: "Tell me a problem and I'll give advice"
  • Campus / class: "Questions and feedback for the class"

Each mode has its own link to share, so you can post a "Roast me" link in one place and an "Ask me anything" link in another.

4. Share it

Tap share, and DropAsecret opens a sheet with WhatsApp, Telegram, X, Facebook, Messages and Email, plus More, which opens your phone's own share menu, and Copy. Instagram can't be opened from a link, so for your story or bio, use More or copy the link and paste it in.

The best places for it are where people already talk to you: your story, your bio, or the group chat. When someone sees it in a chat, the preview reads "Send [your name] an anonymous message 👀".

What the people you share it with see

Anyone can open your link without an account. They see your prompt and a box that says "Type an anonymous message…", and the page tells them you won't see their name.

A message can be up to 1,000 characters, with one picture if they like. Their phone shrinks the picture before sending, which also strips out camera and location details.

Each message starts a new conversation, under a random nickname like "Anonymous Fox 42", which is different for every conversation.

5. Read and reply

New messages land in your inbox. You can react, reply in text, or reply with a voice note. The sender can come back to the same chat and answer you, so it can turn into a real conversation while staying anonymous.

To know when something arrives, turn on notifications. They only ever say that something arrived, never what it says. On an iPhone, add DropAsecret to your home screen first: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.

If it gets to be too much

You stay in control. You can pause your link so nobody can send new messages, block a sender without ever learning who they are, and report a conversation. We've written more about how DropAsecret keeps you anonymous and safe.

Ready? Create your link.
