Your DropAsecret mask: levels, the shop and secret gifts

Everyone on DropAsecret wears a mask. It's the face on your link, on your Me page and at the top of your inbox, and it's who you are when you message someone else. Now your mask levels up as your link gets busier, wears things you pick, and can get gifts from the people who message you.

Make your mask

Tap your mask at the top right of your inbox to open Me, then tap the pencil on your mask. Choose a shape, a colour and a backdrop, and the preview shows it the way people will see it on your link.

The Classic, Ghost and Cat masks are free, in six colours, and so are the Ember, Ocean, Jade, Night and Gold backdrops. You can try on anything else before you decide to get it.

If you've added a photo, your link shows the photo instead. Turn on Show my mask on my link if you'd rather it showed your mask.

Your DAS Score

Your DAS Score grows with everything that happens on your link:

• A message arrives: +2
• You reply: +2
• Someone reacts to your reply: +1
• Someone opens your link: +1, up to 20 a day
• You share your link: +2, up to 3 a day
• You share a message card or voice note: +2, up to 5 a day

Your score shows on your link for everyone to see. Messages you send to other people never count, so nobody can work out who messaged them by watching a score go up.

Mask levels

Your DAS Score raises your mask level. Level 2 takes 30 points, about 15 messages, and each level after that takes 10 more points than the one before. There's no top level.

Levels come in tiers, each with its own crest: Whisper, then Rumour at level 10, Mystery at 20, Enigma at 30, Phantom at 50, Legend at 75 and Myth at 100. From there, Myth gains a star every hundred levels.

Some items can't be bought, only earned:

• Laurel frame at level 5
• Spotlight link effect at level 8
• Phoenix mask at level 30

When you level up, your mask celebrates at the top of your inbox and shows what you unlocked, or what's next. Your level shows on your Me page. People who open your link see your DAS Score, not your level.

The shop

Tap Shop on your Me page. What you buy is yours to keep:

• Masks: your face on your link, and who you are when you message someone
• Frames: go around your mask or photo
• Effects: play on your link page for everyone who opens it, like Kente rain or Fireflies
• Bubbles: how your replies look in your chats
• Reveals: how the mask comes off when you both agree to a reveal
• Backdrops: what your mask sits on
• Sets: matching items together, a quarter off

In Ghana, items cost GHS 2 to GHS 10, paid with Mobile Money or card. Everywhere else, every item is $1, paid by card.

Each week, one Legendary item is in the shop for that week only, and every copy is numbered, from No. 0001 up. Christmas items arrive on 1 December and stay until 6 January, and Valentine's items are in from 1 to 14 February. Both come back every year.

On Plus or Creator Pro, you get one item free every month: anything on sale in the shop.

Secret gifts

Someone who has messaged you can send you an item from your chat, as a secret gift. It shows up in the chat as a gift from them, and you still won't know who they are.

Tap the heart on anything in the shop to add it to your wishlist, up to 12 items. When someone picks a secret gift for you, they see your wishlist first.

Wear it

You can wear one of each kind at a time. Open Your items from your Me page, tap an item, then Wear it.

Your mask, frame, effect and backdrop show on your link. Your reply bubble styles your replies on both sides of a chat, and your reveal plays when a reveal happens.

When you message someone else's link, you appear as a random free mask, a different one in each chat. You can pick one of your own masks instead, but if it's the one on your link, people who know your link might guess it's you.
